Simple Using Floating Skimmer Basket

Apr 15th

Floating skimmer basket – Closing your in-ground saltwater pool and preparing it for water is not really much different than closing a chlorinated one. Properly winterizing your pool will protect you from damage during the winter and save a great deal of work when it comes time to open your pool next season. Test and balance your water before your closing day.

Clean the pool, using a pool brush to remove any seaweed on the sides of the pool. Use the floating skimmer basket to remove floating debris. Vacuum the entire pool. Empty the pool to a level just below the lowest return outlet. If your pool is not equipped with dedicated main drain suction, use a submersible pump to empty the pool.

Remove the hooks from the pool wall, floating skimmer basket, pool ladders, slides and trampoline, using a screwdriver. By placing the wall accessories in the skimmer basket, you have stored everything in one place. Blow pipes and lines using a vacuum cleaner. Place an empty plastic soda bottle in skimmer. In this way, any water left in the skimmer that could freeze will crush the bottle and not damage the skimmer. Close the skimmer valve if you have one and replace the cap.
